Workplace factors influence the continuous process of learning and development. If you are working in learning and development, there are ways you can influence whether (or not) learners use their new learning back in the workplace.

The webinar will include presentations, group activities and personal reflective time. You will hear about a research and resources and talk to other participants about ways they are supporting effective learning.

This session is designed for anyone who is responsible for supporting learning and development in their organisation.

Learning outcomes

As a result of attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain what the transfer climate is for learning (and why it is important).
  • Outline the importance of supervision, management support, and wider organisational structures in learning transfer.
  • Link the transfer of learning with the space to try things out back in the workplace.
  • Reflect on your own transfer climate and plan how you can positively affect it.

This is a learning theory event.

Learning theory events are designed to support learning and development practitioners to build their knowledge of learning theory. It is also an opportunity to reflect on creating conditions for a positive learning culture to thrive.

This is part of the Learn and deliver programme.
