Overview
Join us on 11 March to celebrate the many ways in which the ConnectED project has helped to embed research and the lived experiences of people accessing services and carers into the heart of decision-making in social care in the South West.
Who should attend?
This event is designed for social workers, occupational therapists, managers and commissioners – all those who make decisions that affect the lives of people accessing services and carers.
What will this conference cover?
This conference will feature ‘lightening talks’ by social care practitioners, evidence champions, people accessing care and support, and carers. They will share what they have learned about what helps to bring together research, practice and lived experience.
Using examples from the work achieved (briefings, projects, training), your ConnectED colleagues will be sharing their experiences of:
- Building research capacity.
- Building partnerships and co-production.
- Getting research into practice (‘pathways to impact’).
We will also hear what three Directors of Adult Social Care are planning ‘post-ConnectED’.
Each session will involve audience participation and discussion.
Speakers
Confirmed speakers include:
- Chris Lehmann, Chair of the Research Group of the ADASS will explore the ambition for research within the sector.
- Dez Holmes, Director of Research in Practice and Strategic Director of Practice and Programmes at National Children's Bureau, will discuss the importance of evidence-informed practice in our sector.
- Yvonne Birks, Director of the School for Social Care Research, will talk about the research and training opportunities available for social care practitioners, and highlight some of the School’s recent research.
