Tackling Child Exploitation Support Programme

The Tackling Child Exploitation (TCE) Support Programme has worked with the sector and across government to develop effective strategic responses to child exploitation and threats from outside the family home.  

Experiencing extra-familial harm and exploitation can have a devastating impact on children, their families , and the wider community. Since 2018-19, the TCE Support Programme has supported local areas to improve strategic multi-agency responses to child sexual exploitation and child criminal exploitation, including county lines drug trafficking.  

The TCE Support Programme Practice Principles guide professionals across local multi-agency partnerships in their response to keeping children and young people safe. The Practice Principles are supported by a number of resources to help safeguarding partnerships, strategic leaders, managers, and frontline professionals embed principles into their practice and partnership approaches.  

Funded by the Department for Education, and supported by the Home Office, Department of Health and Social Care, and the Ministry of Justice, the resources reflect the best available research in this area of practice and have been developed through extensive consultation with national policymakers, professionals and children, young people, parents and carers with lived experience.
