N2  - This briefing draws on the findings of the Social Work with Older People (SWOP) research project. The project, which was led by researchers at the University of Birmingham and University of Bristol, shone light on social work practice with older people by shadowing social workers and looking at how their work makes a difference in older people’s lives.  

It sets out the specialist skills and knowledge practitioners bring to their work with older people, the impact they have on the people they work with, and the factors that enable effective practice.
